- Download the TrueNAS Scale iso Download
- Log into the Proxmox web UI
- Select a storage from the left navigation pane to download the .iso to
- Select ISO Images in the left sub-navigation pane
- and upload it to the Proxmox ISO image library
- Right click the Proxmox node name > Create VM
- Give the VM a unique ID and Name > Next
- On the OS tab, Select the TrueNAS Scale installation .iso file, leave the Type as Linux and the Version as 5.x - 2.6 Kernel > Next
- Leave the defaults on the System tab > Next
- On the Hard Disk tab, set the Disk size to 16 GiB or more > Next
- On the CPU tab, set Cores to 2 or more and Type to host > Next
- On the Memory tab, set the Memory to 4096 or more > Next
- Leave the defaults on the Network tab > Next
- Verify the summary and click Finish
- Right click the TrueNAS Scale VM in the left navigation pane > Start
- Click console in the left sub-navigation menu
- At the boot menu, press Enter to select Start TrueNAS SCALE Installation
- Select Install/Upgrade > OK
- If prompted about not having 8GB of RAM, select Yes to continue anyway
- Press the space bar to select the QEMU HARDDISK > Press Enter
- Select Yes to continue the installation > Press Enter
- Select Administrative user (admin) > Press Enter
- Enter and confirm a password for the admin user > Press Enter
- After the installation completes, navigate to the VM > Hardware menu in the Proxmox web UI and remove the TrueNAS Scale .iso from the CD/DVD drive
- Back in the VM, select Reboot System > Press Enter
- Once TrueNAS Scale has finished booting, note the URL on the screen
- Open a web browser and navigate to the TrueNAS Scale URL
- Log into the Web UI with username admin and the password set during the installation
- Welcome to TrueNAS Scale
