NOTE: This is a helpful exercise to get familiar with the XCP-ng user interface and terminology but is not recommended for production use.
- Download the XCP-ng .iso file Download
- Launch Virtualbox
- Create a New VM by selecting Machine > New
Name: XCP-ng
Machine Folder: C:\VMs
Type: Linux
Version: Other (64-bit)
Memory Size: 8192 MB
Hard disk: Create a virtual hard disk now - Click Create
- On the Create Virtual Hard Disk dialog
Name the virtual disk image XCP-ng.vdi
File size: 120 GB
Hard disk file type: VDI
Storage on physical hard disk: Dynamically Allocated - Click Create
- Select the VM and Click Settings
- Select System > Processor
- Give the VM at least 2 processors
- Check the Enable Nested VT-x/AMD-V
- Select Display
- Slide the Video Memory to 128 MB
- Select Network
- Set the attached to dropdown to Bridged Adapter
- Select Storage
- Click on the CD-ROM drive
- Select the disc dropdown to the right > Choose a virtual optical disc file...
- Browse to and select the downloaded XCP-ng .iso file
- Click OK
- Select the hard disk dropdown to the right
- Click the Create button at the top
- Change the size to 500 GB > Click Create
- Click OK to accept the settings
- Make sure the XCP-ng VM is selected and click Start > Normal
- Press Enter to begin the installation
- Select a keyboard mapping > Ok
- Select OK at the welcome screen > Press Enter
- Select Accept EULA > Press Enter
- Make sure the VBOX HARDDISK is selected > Tab to select Ok > Press Enter
- Select Local Media > Tab to select Ok > Press Enter
- Select Skip verification > Tab to select Ok > Press Enter
- Enter and confirm a root password
- Configure the network > Ok
- Specify a hostname > Ok
- Select a Geographic area > Ok
- Set the time zone > Ok
- Select Using NTP > Ok
- Select Ok at the NTP server setup
- Select Install XPC-ng
- Select No at the supplemental packs installation screen
- After the installation completes, select Devices > Optical Drives > Remove disk from virtual drive
- Select Ok to reboot
- Welcome to XPC-ng
Installing Xen Orchestra Web UI
- Arrow down to Network and Management Interface
- Note the IP address displayed
- Open a web browser and navigate to http:// IP address of XPC-ng
- Click the Quick Deploy button under Xen Orchestra
- Enter the password set during the installation process > Click Connect
- Click the Next button
- Set the web UI admin username and password
- Set the XOA machine password
- Click Deploy
