- Download Ubuntu Web Remix Download
- Launch Virtualbox
- Create a New VM by selecting Machine > New
Name: Ubuntu Web Remix
Machine Folder: C:\VMs
Type: Linux
Version: Ubuntu (64-bit)
Memory Size: 4096 MB
Hard disk: Create a virtual hard disk now - Click Create
- On the Create Virtual Hard Disk dialog
Name the virtual disk image Ubuntu Web Remix.vdi
File size: 30 GB
Hard disk file type: VDI
Storage on physical hard disk: Dynamically Allocated - Click Create
- Select the VM and Click Settings
- Select System > Processor
- Give the VM at least 2 processors
- Select Display
- Slide the Video Memory to 128 MB
- Select Network
- Set the attached to dropdown to Bridged Adapter
- Select Storage
- Click on the CD-ROM drive
- Select the disc dropdown to the right > Choose a virtual optical disc file...
- Browse to and select the downloaded Ubuntu Web Remix .iso file
- Click OK
- Make sure the Ubuntu Web Remix VM is selected and click Start > Normal
- Press Ctrl+C to cancel the disk check
- When the install dialog displays click Install Ubuntu
- Select a keyboard layout > Click Continue
- Uncheck Download updates while installing Ubuntu > Click Continue
- Click Install Now
- Click Continue to write the changes to the disk
- Select a Region > Click continue
- Enter a name, computer name, username and password > Click Continue
- Wait while Ubuntu copies files and installs
- When prompted to Restart Now, Select Devices > Optical Drives > Remove disk from virtual drive
- Click Restart Now to complete the installation, the VM will reboot
- Login with the username and password created earlier in the process
- Welcome to Ubuntu Web Remix 20.04
Optional Steps
- Select Devices > Insert Guest Additions CD image...
- Click the Applications button > Search "files" > Click Local Files
- Select the Guest Additions Disc > Right click in the white space > Open terminal here
- In the Terminal window run the following commands
sudo sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run
sudo reboot - The VM will reboot
- Upon rebooting, you can now full screen the VM and the internal resolution will automatically change to match the window size
- Log back into Ubuntu Web Remix
